Drastic remodeling measures  
According to the [Attleboro, MA] Sun Chronicle:
A car struck a house on Maple Street near Day Street this morning, causing significant damage but not rendering the house inhabitable.
I must say I'm impressed. If the house is so dire that ramming a car into it was even considered a viable remodeling strategy ....

Then again, this is a paper that invariably reports people pleading "innocent" in court rather than merely "not guilty", so they may be engaging in another bit of world-building. Ain't it jes' so charmin' an' colorful an' quirky?

Not so much that I've seen, actually. The Boston Globe always uses "pleaded not guilty", for example. If Google News is to be believed, so does the New York Times ....
