Say what, Rand?
Rand Paul thinks that desegregation was completely accomplished in Boston in 1840?

Is he certifiable? Or just profoundly stupid?

Why are the profoundly stupid (Paul by this example; Lowden; Palin; Beck) rewarded in our society?

The Paul family is totally barking, so far as I can determine. Honestly so, at least, though---which to my mind puts them ahead of the more disingenuous mercenaries like Palin, who seems to neither know nor care what the hell she's saying so long as people cheer. Not far ahead, mind you.

But my favorite Rand moment is probably when he said that the Americans with Disabilities Act is an assault on our freedom of speech. Total! Loon!

You know, the thing is, I can see where he's coming from with the ADA and "freedom of speech" if I squint hard enough. Violently disagree, sure, and loathe the collapsing-star degrees of conflation, but I can kind of get how he draws the lines between them. (And yeah, they sure are committed to their ideas.) But this one ... either he's barking, or he's deliberately employing the reductionist rhetorical tricks I so loathe in the insincere right-wingers. Either way, ow.
